Manners and Etiquette Training on Stage in the IMBA Program
On Nov. 22 and Dec. 3 2009
Manners and Etiquette Training was held by Mr. Stephan von Delft,
the German studying at School of Management as an exchange student.
The training was attended by some twenty students from the IMBA program.
Mr. Stephan von Delft works at IMAGO, a company offering trainings of professional
communication skills and business etiquette for enterprise employees and new graduates
in Germany. The training for the students at the IMBA program was put on the agenda
with strong support and assistance from his company in Germany.
The training was conducted by two stages, where the basic politeness in business life,
proper table manners, dress code, the ways to greet and introduce,
the art of smalltalk are all demonstrated systemically and thoroughly.
At the training, based on his extensive training experiences,
Mr. Stephan von Delft managed to involve every attendee in the event
through material explanation, in person demonstrations, group discussion,
on-site simulation, role-playing, video playback, and award quiz,
which turned out to be a vivid and instructive event.
The training came to an end with Certificate of Attendance conferred and quiz award presented.
The participating students agreed that it was a beneficial and interesting training.
"The training will help us, the part time students,
tackle the business with more confidence and higher proficiency.
Many undetected pitfalls of mine were exposed by the training,
especially those at the table and the first greeting. Thank you very much, Stephan",
according to one of the students. And another student said, "through the video playback,
I was struck by many neglected impoliteness and rudeness I committed,
which I would pay more attention to in coming days.
The training has improved my knowledge of business etiquettes."
Nov. 22 happened to be the birthday of Mr. Stephan von Delft.
He was congratulated with a surprising birthday cake and gifts from other
students.
Stephan expresses that it was his honor to hold the training for his classmates
and he was impressed by their initiatives and earnest.
He also said that he enjoyed his study life in the School of Management very much
and would treasure the friendship with Chinese students.
